Laser capsulotomy is a simple and effective laser treatment that removes clouding of the capsular bag following cataract surgery.
This is a gentle procedure performed by your Ophthalmologist at Glaucoma Care.
How do I know if I need this treatment?
Capsular clouding typically presents months to years after cataract surgery, causing a secondary reduction in vision. If you noticed that cataract surgery improved your vision and the vision has since deteriorated, you may have treatable capsular clouding.
Your Ophthalmologist will be able to see on examination if you need this treatment.
Why has this developed?
Capsular clouding is very common following successful cataract surgery.
Cataract surgery involves removing the natural lens from the eye and replacing it with an artificial lens. This rests within the capsular bag of the natural lens. Over time this bag can cloud over, reducing the vision.
How does the laser procedure work?
Laser removes the area of capsular clouding, creating a clear window in the capsular bag through which you can see.
